* Steve R. Skinner, professor and associate dean for Undergraduate Studies, Finance and Administration, Wichita State University, is on campus as the third of three candidates for dean of the Graduate School. * The Biological Sciences Fall Seminar Series will feature a presentation by Hari Bhat from the UMKC School of Pharmacy at 4 p.m. today (Monday, Oct. 5) in 231 Hubbard Hall. Bhat will present "Superoxide Dismutase 3 and Its Role in Breast Cancer."

* Becky Hundley, WSU Ventures manager of intellectual property (IP) and contracts, will hold an open lab for IP disclosure forms from 2-4 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month in the Innovation Hub on the second floor of Devlin Hall. The first open lab will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6. Come with your questions and get help filing an IP disclosure form for your ideas, technology, curriculum, research and more.

* WSU will work with AACRAO Consulting on a strategic enrollment management (SEM) plan over the course of this year. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend one of these workshops at 2:30-4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in 208 Hubbard Hall, or 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the CAC Theater. * Help students learn to work smarter, not harder, and encourage them to enroll in LASI 170 Introduction to Library Research. This one-credit class starts Thursday, Oct. 8, with online and face-to-face choices. This class will save students time and energy, while teaching them effective ways to write a research paper.

* It's open enrollment for Minnesota Life Insurance's optional group life insurance (OGLI) now through Oct. 31. Exciting changes begin in 2016 with the addition of child life insurance coverage. Limited guaranteed coverage is also available to qualified employees and new dependents.
