Empty Bowls Chili Cook-Off

The WSU Hunger Awareness Initiative, WSU Ceramics Guild and Ulrich Museum of Art invite you to attend the 2nd annual WSU Empty Bowls Chili Cook-Off from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in Henrion Hall. Admission to the event is $20 ($10 for WSU students with ID) and includes access to all-you-can-eat chili, as well as your choice of more than 1,000 ceramic bowls from handcrafted member organizations, artists from the WSU ceramics classes, ceramics instructors, local artists and community members.

Individuals also have the opportunity to submit a chili to the cook-off portion of the event.

Judges, including WSU President John Bardo, will taste each entry and decide the winners.

There will also be a People's Choice award.

Top prizes include ceramic trophies created by the Ceramics Guild, gift certificates to local businesses and bragging rights for the year.

There will be a silent auction featuring ceramicists from the Wichita area and beyond. Italian ceramicist Emma Draghi will be featured as a guest artist, showcasing her artwork as well as pieces created specifically for the event.

Media sponsorship has been provided by Wichita Public Radio KMUW and the Sunflower. All proceeds will benefit the Kansas Food Bank. The goal is to raise $20,000.
