Her work career at WSU began in 1972 as a clerk in the Registrar's Office, then to Admissions in 1974 and finally to the Registrar's Office as Assistant Registrar in 1974.

Diane has been active in the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and is past president of the Kansas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

As a retirement gift, and to convey gratitude to Barnes for all her friendship, work and commitment to WSU, a paving stone is being dedicated for her at the WSU Plaza of Heroines.
