WSU offers support during this difficult time

The following message was sent to all faculty, staff and students at Wichita State University late this morning (Tuesday, Oct. 20).

Dear members of our Wichita State family:

We offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of a Shocker Hall resident who passed away yesterday (Monday, Oct. 19).

During this time of great loss, we are reminded of the importance of community. Losing a fellow student and member of our university can be very difficult. I encourage those who feel they may need additional emotional support to contact the WSU Counseling and Testing Center at 316-978-3440 or stop by their office at 320 Grace Wilkie Hall.

Counseling and Testing will also be on site at Shocker Hall through 7 p.m. today (Tuesday, Oct. 20) and from 10 a.m-noon and 2-6 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, Oct. 21).

Additional support is available through Lifeline Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) and COMCARE Crisis Services at 316-660-7500.

I encourage all of us to support and look out for one another in this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Eric Sexton
Vice President for Student Affairs
