* The Office of Adult Learning and Admissions will host a new event for spring 2016 recruitment called Shocker Next Steps. Shocker Next Steps targets admitted returning adult students who never took steps beyond admission to enroll. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4345 to find out more.
* Leading Adaptively in the University -- a three-day leadership development program for faculty and staff who are interested in making progress on difficult issues they are facing -- will be held Wednesday-Friday, Nov. 18-20. This program operates on the premise that leadership is an activity, not a role or position, and that anyone can exercise leadership anytime, anywhere. * The WSU Hunger Awareness Initiative, WSU Ceramics Guild and Ulrich Museum of Art invite you to attend the 2nd annual WSU Empty Bowls Chili Cook-Off from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in Henrion Hall. Admission to the event is $20 ($10 for WSU students with ID) and includes access to all-you-can-eat chili, as well as your choice of more than 1,000 ceramic bowls from handcrafted member organizations, artists from the WSU ceramics classes, ceramics instructors, local artists and community members. * Enjoy a night of great performances put on by organizations showing their Shocker pride as Student Activities Council (SAC) presents Songfest at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Orpheum Theatre, 200 N. Broadway. This event is free for students with WSU ID, and $5 for general admission/faculty. * Interested in Alternative Spring Break? This year, WSU students have a chance to serve in the Big Apple and work with hunger relief. * A biometric screening, including lab work, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure and BMI, is available year round from 8-11 a.m. Mondays through Fridays for faculty and staff at Student Health Services in Ahlberg Hall. Remember to fast 10-12 hours prior to the appointment, except for water and medications. The cost is $25.
* The Office of First Year Programs is seeking nominations for next year's Transition Mentor staff. We are looking for exceptional students who are passionate about WSU and want to help welcome new students to our campus.
