* MSNBC's popular national show "Morning Joe" will be broadcast from 5-8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, from Shocker Hall Dining. All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend and welcome hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski to Shocker Nation. There is no cost. * Mark Buchheim from the University of Tulsa will present "Cryptic Diversity and Similarity in the Green Algae" at 4 p.m. today (Monday, Nov. 2) in 231 Hubbard Hall. The presentation is part of the Department of Biological Sciences Fall Seminar Series.

* The State of Kansas Financial System (SMART) will be unavailable for all finance processing because of an upgrade from Nov. 5-12. Because of this, vendor payments (including employee travel reimbursement requests) received by Purchasing after 5 p.m. today (Monday, Nov. 2) cannot be processed for payment by the State of Kansas until Nov. 13. * WSU is hosting a career fair for SNT Media at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, in 262 RSC. Listen to information about the company and the opportunities available. * The Carl and Rozina Cassat Regional Institute on Aging announces a call for proposals for undergraduate and graduate student grants. Students can submit proposals requesting funds to support research or to support the development of innovative technologies or programs that address important issues in aging. Each student applicant must have a faculty sponsor. * The Yale Mall Plaza - Safety Bollard Project starts this week (Nov. 2-6), and will continue until early December. The project includes adding 4-inch-diameter stainless steel safety bollards along Yale Mall Plaza in order to limit vehicular traffic, and in turn, enhance pedestrian safety.

* The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will hold a webinar from 1-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, about the R01 grant mechanism. R01s provide funding for health-related research and development, based on the mission of NIH. This webinar is designed to give participants useful insights into the application submission and peer-review processes of the Center for Scientific Review at NIH.
