* If you are thinking of going to graduate school and need to take the GRE test, the Counseling and Testing Center (CTC) and the Graduate School are co-sponsoring a GRE Prep Workshop from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 7. * Need tips on applying to law school, including how to write a strong personal statement? Students, faculty and staff are invited to a discussion with University of Kansas School of Law Professor Lou Mulligan, Assistant Dean Steven Freedman and WSU alum Julia Leth-Perez from 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the Shocker Hall Multi-Use Room, Building A. * The Counseling and Testing Center is offering free Mental Health First Aid courses to help individuals better identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health issues in others. Admission is free for students, and afternoon snacks will be provided. To register for the Sunday course, which is split between Nov. 8 and 15, from 1-5 p.m. each day (you must attend both days to be certified in the full eight-hour course), please email paula.branizor@wichita.edu by 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 4).
* The Bangladesh Student Association (BSA) welcomes Syed Raj Imteaz to the WSU campus. Imteaz, director of Investment Banking at Barclays, will present "The Journey of an International Student to Wall Street," at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in 265 RSC. Admission is free. * A student-led group, "Helping Veterans Help Themselves," is doing a fundraising event for a management class project. Enjoy a fun day of prizes, food and clay shooting event at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Shady Creek Shooting Range, 1252 N. Oliver Road in Belle Plaine, Kansas. Registration begins at 9 a.m. All proceeds will go to The Fisher House Foundation to help veterans get to and from treatment facilities. Sign up today and save $10. * Help raise awareness for blindness -- attend the first Sight Walk Wichita at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Sign up with a partner or be assigned to one to help guide you through what it's like to be blind. Tickets are $15, and will include a T-shirt, entry into the event and the after-walk party catered by Olive Garden and hosted by our sponsor, Delta Gamma. All proceeds will benefit Heather's Camp, a four-day, one-of-a-kind camp for children who are blind or visually impaired.
* Graduate students who are interested in showcasing their innovative graduate research project are encouraged to submit a proposal by Monday, Nov. 16, for the Graduate Research and Scholarly Projects (GRASP) event.
