Support the 2016 Alternative Spring Break

During the 2016 spring break, Shocker student leaders from a variety of disciplines will participate in a service-learning experience and class that allows students to understand and make a positive impact in the area of food insecurity in New York City. They will also have the opportunity to learn and explore the culture of the Big Apple.

We are looking for departments to sponsor meals for each day. We hope you will consider sponsoring a meal, a day's meal, or a portion of anything will help.

The cost for daily breakfast for all 18 students is $50, daily lunch $108, daily dinner $180 and the daily total $335.

Students will stay in modest hostels, serving in food pantries/banks, shelters, soup kitchens and meal distribution centers, before returning to Wichita and examining and serving in the local community, working with the issues of hunger as well.

Contact Chelsea Redger, assistant director Student Involvement, at chelsea.redger@wichita.edu with questions or support. Thanks for your support of Shocker Nation.
