Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast

* You still have time to earn your $480 HealthQuest discount for 2016. Qualifying is simple. Complete the required Health Assessment Questionnaire worth 10 points and earn an additional 20 points (for a total of 30 points) by Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015. Not sure how many points you have? * Classroom management is the topic of a panel discussion from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in 265 RSC. The panel discussion will be moderated by Linda Bakken, member of the Academy for Effective Teaching steering committee.

* The Rhatigan Student Center is honoring veterans and active-duty military today (Wednesday, Nov. 11) on Veterans Day. With a current military ID, veterans and active-duty military can enjoy 20 percent off one regular priced WSU imprinted item at the University Bookstore. Also, from 6-10 p.m. in the Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes, veterans and active-duty military and their families can enjoy free bowling and billiards. * The University Libraries is hosting a SAGE Research Methods Lunch & Learn for faculty and staff from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, on the lower level of Ablah Library. Join us for lunch and a presentation by Heather Dray of SAGE that will focus on using SAGE Research Methods (SRM) in teaching, e.g., creating customized content lists for your courses and adding content to Blackboard. * The Academy for Effective Teaching, an organization of retired faculty members who distinguished themselves in their teaching careers, will welcome new members at a reception from 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the Marcus Welcome Center. You are invited to a reception honoring Randy Ellsworth, William Woods, Walter Horn, Don Nance and Sylvia Coats for their outstanding teaching careers at WSU. * Celebrate the start of the Shocker basketball season with Shocker Season Starter at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in the Shocker Hall courtyard. There you'll find face painting, tailgating, food, photo booth, games, prizes and music. It's free for students with a WSU ID -- and don't forget to bring your Shocker spirit.

* The Commencement Office is looking for individuals who are available to work fall commencement from about noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.
