Esra Buyuktahtakin, assistant professor, Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, and her former doctoral student Halil Cobuloglu, won the 2015 INFORMS Best Publication Award in Environment and Sustainability for their research paper titled "A Mixed-Integer Optimization Model for the Economic and Environmental Analysis of Biomass Production." The award was given to Buyuktahtakin on Nov. 1, at the Institute of Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS) annual conference in Philadelphia.
