129 Shockers build about 2,000 food packs

Food Bank Fridays, a five-time series of volunteer sessions at the Kansas Food Bank sponsored by the Community Service Board (CSB), aim to get students to give back and to connect them to the issues facing the Wichita metro community. CSB volunteered and coordinated efforts to bring fellow Shockers along to volunteer at the Kansas Food Bank. During the fall semester, 129 Shocker volunteers accumulated 258 hours of service. Through their service, they were able to build about 2,000 food packs for the Kansas Food Bank and gain meaningful experiences in civic engagement and service learning. This popular program will begin again in the spring semester on Friday, Jan. 29. For more information on this or other programs sponsored by the CSB, go to http://www.wichita.edu/csb
