Reminders, deadlines and events
* The December meeting of the Unclassified Professional (UP) Senate is 9-11 a.m. today (Tuesday, Dec. 15) in 142 RSC. The agenda is on the UP Senate website at http://www.wichita.edu/upsenate
* Accounts Receivable and Cashiers will be closed for staff development from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, Dec. 15).
* To ensure that all jobs are posted in PeopleAdmin as requested before the holiday shutdown, all position descriptions should be approved and sent to Human Resources by noon Thursday, Dec. 17. Because of volume of postings received during this time, posting requests received after this deadline may not be completed before the shutdown. Please note that any positions open to WSU employees only during the shutdown must remain open through Monday, Jan. 4. * The WSU Foundation will not process requisitions during the campus shutdown for the week of Dec. 21 or Dec. 28, except for emergencies. Payables will need to be to the foundation by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16. Checks will be issued on Friday, Dec. 18. Please forward all deposits for 2015 to the WSU Foundation by Friday, Dec. 18, before you leave for campus shutdown, or Thursday, Dec. 31, if you should work during the shutdown. The WSU Foundation office will only be closed at noon Thursday, Dec. 24, and all day Friday, Dec. 25.
* The Office of Academic Affairs is conducting an internal search for a tenured professor to lead the new Institute for Interdisciplinary Creativity. The successful candidate will be someone with a major track record and commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and leading innovation-focused groups in research and creative projects. In addition to their current tenured position, the successful candidate will take on the additional responsibilities of the director, and be compensated with a stipend from the professorship fund. * Business Procurement Card logs were available in campus mail on Friday, Dec. 11. Audited logs with attached receipts must be received by the Financial Operations Office by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16. There are no exceptions.
* The Office of Research will hold a workshop on "Developing Budgets: How to Avoid a Budget Battle Before a Grant Goes Out," at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, in 266 RSC. Topics covered will include allowable/unallowable costs, WSU rates, travel questions, cost match, flexibility and cost recovery. Register through myWSU using the myTraining channel.
