* The Office of Academic Affairs is conducting an internal search for a tenured professor to lead the new Institute for Interdisciplinary Creativity. * Edna Bates, assistant director in Financial Operations, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 28. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at St. Marks Methodist Church, 1525 N. Lorraine, in Wichita. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Jackson Mortuary. The Office of Financial Operations is creating a memory box for her family. If you would like to write a note to them in remembrance of Edna, please stop by 201 Jardine before 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7. In addition, the office will close at noon Friday, Jan. 8, and reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11.

* Housing and Residence Life is looking for student leaders to fill the Resident Assistant and Peer Academic Leader positions for the 2016-17 academic year. * The Counseling & Testing Center is offering a free Mental Health First Aid course to help individuals better identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health issues in others on Friday, Jan. 29. * A new online performance management system, myPerformance, is going live in 2016 at WSU. The myPerformance tool is used to develop employees, aiding them in achieving the goals laid out in the university's strategic plan. It is also helpful for managers as they can use myPerformance to inspire great work, motivate their employees and deliver results. myPerformance will be available for the planning phase of the 2016-17 annual evaluation cycle for all University Support Staff (USS) and Unclassified Professional (UP) employee evaluations.
