* The Kansas University Office of Research invites nominations for the 2016 Higuchi-KU Endowment Research Achievement Awards. Nominations must be received by today (Friday, Jan. 22). The Higuchi-KU Endowment Research Achievement Awards are KU's highest award for faculty accomplishments in research, scholarship and creative activity. These awards recognize significant research achievement conducted by faculty at any Regents institution. The criteria for each award and the nomination guidelines are available at http://research.ku.edu/higuchi-award-nominations
* New and returning students have the opportunity to check out their campus housing options from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Shocker Hall for the annual Open House. Please encourage new and returning students to attend. Students can RSVP at wichita.edu/OpenHouseRSVP.
* Student Involvement, Community Service Board and the Office of Returning Adults welcomes you back to the spring semester. From 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, in Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes in the RSC, participate in free bowling, billiards, games and food. Kick off the semester by meeting other adult students. This event is only open to returning adults and their families.
* Nominations are being accepted for the President's Award for Distinguished Service for Unclassified Professionals. The nomination form and instructions can be found under the featured links on the Unclassified Professional Senate website at http://www.wichita.edu/upsenate. Nominations are due by noon Friday, Jan. 29.
* Do you know an exemplary University Support Staff (USS) employee? Nominations will be accepted for the President's Award for Distinguished Service for University Support Staff until 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3640 to nominate an outstanding USS employee.
* The Counseling and Testing Center is offering a free Mental Health First Aid course to help individuals better identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health issues in others on Friday, Jan. 29. To register, go to myWSU and myTraining. More spring 2016 dates for this workshop are also available. Admission is free and a light breakfast and afternoon snacks will be provided.
