Wichita State to announce winners of Gore Scholarship on Thursday, Jan. 28

Two high school seniors will be named Gore Scholars at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in the Marcus Welcome Center at Wichita State University. The $52,000 Harry Gore Memorial Scholarship is among the largest undergraduate awards in Kansas. Media are invited to attend.

All finalists will receive competitive scholarship packages to attend WSU in the fall. The nine finalists are:

- Sandra Carlo, Wichita, Maize High School
- Caelan Dean, Wichita, Andover High School
- Brandon Eckerman, Wichita, Maize South High School
- Claire Hersh, Wichita, Eisenhower High School
- Brayden Hosman, Sterling, Kansas, Sterling High School
- Cynthia Matson, Valley Center, Kansas, Sunrise Christian Academy
- Sarah Myose, Bel Aire, Kansas, Sunrise Christian Academy
- Ashtyn Rottinghaus, Wellsville, Kansas, Wellsville High School
- Saylis Sengvilay, Andover, Kansas, Andover Central High School

To be invited to compete in the invitational, students had to have a 24 or higher ACT score and a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. The nine finalists this year have an average ACT score of 29 and average GPA of 3.88.
