Reminders, deadlines and events

* WSU's Office of Special Programs is hosting a town hall meeting as part of National TRIO Day 2016 to discuss the USD 259 school board and current student issues. The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place from 10-11:30 a.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 11) in the CAC Theater.

* All probationary faculty are invited to the next Pre-tenure Club meeting at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 11) in 300 Clinton Hall. For more information, contact Gery Markova at gergana.markova@wichita.edu.

* Lobsterman. Rodeo Announcer. Lumberjack. Football coach. What do all of these career paths have in common? Daniel Seddiqui has been all of these and 46 others. After graduating college, he was unable to find a job in his field, so he set out to work 50 jobs in 50 states in 50 weeks. Don't miss the chance to hear about his experiences when he's on campus from 6-7 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 11) in 208 Hubbard Hall. Book signing will follow. Admission is free. * The Student Activities Council (SAC) will host Sex Signals at 7 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 11) in the CAC Theater. This interactive program is intended to provide education and information concerning sexual assault and prevention in a comfortable environment using the students' own words and language to get the point across. * Academic Affairs will hold an official Hospitality Training Session for candidate searches from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in 124 Jabara Hall. Learn about the new fillable PDF forms and processes. This is very important training for departmental personnel involved in processing reimbursement requests. * "Writing Proposals: Clear, Concise, Consistent (and Successful!)" workshop will be offered at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, in 266 RSC. Funders and their reviewers want proposals that are clear, concise and consistent. Attend this workshop to learn tips, resources and hands-on approaches for improving grant-writing skills.
