Founded in 1928, the Wichita State University (WSU) Women's Association (current name) existed for the purpose of organizing and sponsoring faculty social activities. Currently, the organization continues to serve the interests of WSU, by providing student scholarships and promoting member involvement and university interaction.

WSU Dames Endowed Scholarship(s) are awarded annually to student(s) enrolled full or part time at WSU who have financial need. No recipient will be excluded from consideration on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, political affiliation, status as a veteran, genetic information or disability. However, first consideration will be given to nontraditional, female candidates.

Each March, the organization has a fundraiser to raise money for the WSU Dames Endowed Scholarship fund. This annual event adds almost $3,000 and provides several scholarships for WSU students.

This year, the WSU Women's Association has decided to have a mail-in donation event, and 100 percent of the donations raised will go to the scholarship fund.

For students, the deadline to turn in a WSU Dames Endowed Scholarship application for the 2016-17 academic year is May 1, 2016. Applications are available online at http://www.wichita.edu/wsuwomen
