Staff encouraged to nominate peers for UP Senate

Nominations for Wichita State University Unclassified Professional (UP) senators will open on Monday, March 7. Eligible staff are encouraged to nominate their peers for service on the committee, which exists to represent and give UPs a voice on campus.

UP Senators meet monthly for about two hours and are tasked with:
- providing representation for UP personnel and acting as a liaison to the administration and others regarding issues of concern
- formulating recommendations to WSU President regarding policies and procedures that relate to the concerns of UP personnel
- reviewing and recommending refinement of the UP personnel policy

In 2015, the UP Senate provided recommendations on policies and initiatives such as CBIZ, myPerformance, Tobacco Free Wu & Me, Social Media Policy and Weapons Safety. Senators also coordinated the Technology Fair and supported several charity events on campus.

Voting eligible UPs will receive an email with instructions on completing the nomination process. All nominations are subject to approval by the nominee before being added to the final ballot. Elected senators serve a two-year term.
