Sigma Lambda Beta fraternity celebrates 15th anniversary

On Saturday, March 12, the Rho Beta chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta went on a trip back through time, to the very roots of their existence. This day was a milestone for them, as they celebrated 15 years of excellence and 15 years of creating an impact on the Wichita State campus at their Midwest regional banquet. Joining them were the other seven chapters in the region along with Rho Beta's alumni, university staff and other students. More than 130 people attended.

The day started off with the Midwest Regional meeting, where all eight chapters in the region got together to discuss business and present to one another their accomplishments on their individual campuses. At the banquet, the WSU chapter was recognized both for their anniversary and a number of regional awards including Best Academics, Brother of the Year (Job Arredando) and Advisor of the Year (Fidel Serrano).

Sigma Lamda Beta, a historically Latino organization, was founded at WSU in 2001, and it has since grown from six members to 21 members. Sigma Lambda Beta's values are cultural awareness, community service, brotherhood and scholarship. The organization's philanthropic partnerships include Big Brothers Big Sisters, CPR Awareness and Latino Vote.
