Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast

* If you have chronic neck and shoulder discomfort, Human Performance Studies invites you to participate in a study that will examine the effects of massage and Kinesiology Tape on neck range of motion and discomfort. As part of this study, you will get an eight-minute massage of your neck and upper shoulders. The procedures will take about 30 minutes on the first day and about 15 minutes on the second day. Currently, there are openings between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today (Monday, April 11) -- you would return on Tuesday, April 12, and between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 -- you would return on Thursday, April 14. * Kirsten Jensen from the University of Kansas will present "Evolutionary patterns of diversity in a marine parasite system: tapeworms of sharks and rays," from 4-5 p.m. today (Monday, April 11) in 218 Hubbard Hall. Her talk is part of the spring seminar in Biological Sciences.

* Stop by the RSC from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Monday, April 11) and celebrate the hard work you have provided for our community through your volunteerism. Log in your hours and enjoy a piece of cake with Community Service Board.

* Ron Matson, dean of Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will present a seminar, "The Lecture: Some Ideas from an Inveterate Teacher," at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, in FLS20 MRC. The seminar is a part of an ongoing series of seminars sponsored by the Academy for Effective Teaching, an organization of retired faculty whose sole purpose is to promote effective teaching at WSU.

* The Tilford Commission will meet to provide updates on the commission's work and the many diversity-related efforts being made across campus from 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in 301 RSC. This is a great opportunity to get involved with diversity initiatives at WSU. All are welcome.

* Join University Libraries for an overview of how to become an IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) author and best practices for searching IEEE Xplore from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in 123 Wallace Hall. Pizza and drinks will be provided.

* Archaeologist Michael Collins will present "16,000 Years of Occupation at the Gault Site, Texas," at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in 100 Lindquist Hall. A reception will follow in 117 Neff Hall. The presentation is part of the Sally and David Jackman Lecture Series and the Department of Anthropology at WSU. Admission is free.
