Reminders, deadlines and events

* Learn about gardening on campus from 10-10:20 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 13) at the northwest corner of Ahlberg Hall. We have an experimental vegetable garden where we experiment with raised beds, gardening with recycled containers, vertical gardening, herbs and perennial fruits and vegetables. There are onions, garlic, broccoli, radishes and a few other crops in the ground.

* Baylee Cunningham, the City of Wichita's Air Quality Specialist, will address air quality concerns in Wichita and discuss consequences Wichita could face if the city were to go out of compliance with national standards. The WSU Green Group event will be held from 2-3 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 13) in 203 RSC.

* Kappa Delta Chi is hosting a movie showing called "Undocumented," at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in 208 Hubbard Hall.

* Wichita State men's basketball will hold its annual end of the year celebration on Thursday, April 14, inside Charles Koch Arena. Fans are encouraged to attend this free event. Gates will open at 6 p.m., and festivities begin at 7 p.m. Outgoing seniors Ron Baker, Anton Grady, Fred VanVleet, Tom "Bush" Wamukota and Evan Wessel will have one last opportunity to address fans. * Archaeologist Michael Collins will present "16,000 Years of Occupation at the Gault Site, Texas," at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in 100 Lindquist Hall. A reception will follow in 117 Neff Hall.

* Join the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) at 6 p.m. Friday, April 15, in the CAC Theater, for a night of salsa dancing. Admission is free. We will have an instructor teaching us how to salsa dance. Also, SHPE meetings are every Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in 257 RSC.

* Submit a flyer and logo with a tag line for WSU's Title IX Campaign by Friday, April 15. The winning campaign will be the new face of Title IX across campus in print and online materials. Prizes will be given to the top three submissions. Email your submissions to TitleIX@wichita.edu.

* Take a selfie in honor of Domestic Violence Month. Prizes will be given for the top three submissions. Send your submission to TitleIX@wichita.edu and tag yourself on social media using #wsuShockerIX. The deadline is Friday, April 15. Scoring categories are use of Shocker paraphernalia, creativity, appearance and inclusive of Sexual Assault Awareness in your selfie. * Microsoft Office Championship Scholarships available -- Use WSU's Microsoft Imagine Academy to brush up on your Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint skills. Get certified and enter for a chance at a scholarship, not to mention a trip to Orlando, Florida, to represent Wichita State University and the United States. Who's eligible? WSU students between the ages of 13-22 who take a Microsoft Certification test between June 16, 2015, and June 15, 2016. * The WSU-Engineers Without Borders: Fish Slap Fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 19-20, on the RSC north patio. Slap our President Seham and other members with a fish or squid for a $3 donation per slap. Donations support Megabytes for Makenke, a Wichita State Engineers Without Borders project to provide St. Kizito Primary School of Makenke, Uganda, with the area's first computer lab.

* The WSU Summer 2016 Financial Aid Application is available at mywsu.wichita.edu under the "myFinances" tab and then under "Financial Aid Links." If you plan on attending classes this summer and have not yet completed the 2015-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), do so immediately at http://www.fafsa.gov. For the summer term, full-time enrollment is six credit hours for undergraduates and five credit hours for graduates. Halftime status is three credit hours for both undergraduates and graduates. The priority date for the Summer 2016 Financial Aid Application is Sunday, May 1. Apply early to prevent delays in receiving summer financial aid.
