Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast

* Matthew Stuart, professor of philosophy, Bowdoin College, will present "Locke's Succeeding Ideas," at 3:30 p.m. today (Monday, April 18) in 218 McKinley Hall. In addition, he will present "Locke on Attention," at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in 218 McKinley Hall. The lectures are presented by the Department of Philosophy, and are free and open to the public.

* Adam Smith, Missouri Botanical Garden, will present "No silver bullets yet low-hanging fruit, death by 1,000 cuts while being loved to death: A systematic assessment of threats affecting rare plants of the United States," from 4-5 p.m. today (Monday, April 18) in 218 Hubbard Hall. His talk is part of the spring seminar in Biological Sciences.

* The Office of Research Compliance will hold an open lab from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, in 215 Devlin Hall Innovation Hub.

* The Fiscal Year 2017 budget process begins at the departmental level with the entering of budget information into WSU's budget system (TM1) software. It is important that budget officers and budget review officers for state orgs (nonresearch orgs) attend one of the FY17 training sessions or the open lab session for individual help April 25-29. * Student Activities Council is coordinating the Spring 2016 Edition of Finals Frenzy. These events are intended to help students relieve the stress of preparing for finals. * Tim Buchanan, an industry pioneer in assisted living, will present at Wichita State at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in 201 Ahlberg Hall. Buchanan will share information on his entrepreneurial spirit, passion for the aging population and dedication to the field of health care. Students, faculty/staff and community members are invited to this educational presentation. Additionally, tours of Legends Senior Living will be offered on Friday, April 29, to those who RSVP at http://www.wichita.edu/fhcp
