WSU, a member of the Wichita Holocaust Council, will host the Wichita Community Holocaust Commemoration at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, in Lowe Auditorium, Hughes Metropolitan Complex. Guest speaker Sami Steigmann is a survivor who lived with his family in a labor camp from 1941-1944. As a child, he was subjected to medical experiments; his life was saved by a German woman who saw he was dying of starvation. Steigmann focuses on the importance of hope, tolerance and perseverance. Musical pieces and readings, along with an interfaith memorial service and candlelighting, will be part of the remembrance. The event is free and open to the public.
