The 2009 Class of Nominees for the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame has a distinct Shocker flavor. Among the list of nominees is former Shocker baseball player Greg Brummett, who was the College World Series MVP on Wichita State's 1989 National Championship team. Former Shocker basketball favorite Jason Perez is on the list as well, ranking as WSU's all-time leader in steals and sixth on the all-time scoring list at Wichita State. Shocker fans can cast their vote before April 30 for Jason and Greg at http://www.wichitahof.com/Ballot%202009.htm?SPSID=107579&SPID=2849&DB_OEM_ID=7500.

Former football coach Willie Jeffries, the first African-American Division I head football coach, finds his name on the veterans ballot along with two Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Famers, Gene Wiley and Herm Wilson.
