* SGA will host a Town Hall with Provost and Senior Vice President Tony Vizzini, VP for Administration and Finance Mary Herrin, and VP for Student Affairs Eric Sexton regarding the recent budget cuts and how they will affect students, faculty and staff on campus. Join us at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in 233 RSC to learn more about how these cuts may affect you.
* Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, commemorates the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. Come and enjoy fun, food and most importantly Mexican American culture and heritage from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, May 5, on the RSC east patio. A cost may apply at some booths; cash only.
* Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures' Japanese film class will present "Kiki's delivery service," by Hayao Miyazaki from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in 100 Lindquist Hall. * STEMpact2020 has two AmeriCorps VISTA positions for the next school year (July 18, 2016-July 21, 2017), with an application deadline of Friday, June 3, 2016. STEMpact2020 is a citywide initiative to engage science, technology, engineering and math professionals in mentoring underserved youth, which is based out of the WSU College of Engineering.
* Wichita State is hosting its first regional leadership drive-in. This conference is open to any student from any college or university who would like to network with other student leaders, as well as expand upon their leadership skills and abilities. * End the school year with Community Service Board's Wu's Big Event IV from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 7. A kick-off will begin in the RSC's Shirley Begg's Ballroom with check-in, speakers and information about the agencies being served. Participants will then load the buses and be at one of five service sites by 10 a.m. Volunteers will work until 1 p.m. and return to the ballroom for pizza and reflection.
