FERPA Training Notifications to begin Thursday, May 26

WSU's compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is of key importance to our institution and our students. FERPA requires institutions to prevent the unauthorized release of personally identifiable, nondirectory information from student records without the permission of the student. To establish more consistent awareness of FERPA requirements and ensure protection for our students, WSU has established a requirement for all faculty and staff, regardless of level of access, to complete online FERPA training. In an important step toward full compliance, a new automated process will be put in place beginning Thursday, May 26. The system will identify all employees required to complete the training who either have not done so or who completed it more than three years ago. Those individuals will receive an email with instructions to complete the training. You can view your FERPA training status under Employee Required Training on the Faculty/Staff tab in myWSU. Please watch for your FERPA email and complete your training requirement. Contact kristi.hughes@wichita.edu with questions.
