Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast

* Hundreds of people from around the country are expected to converge in Wichita for a week of anti-abortion rallies, protests and prayer vigils marking the 25th anniversary of the "Summer of Mercy" campaign. Some "Summer of Mercy" supporters will likely be on campus from 8 a.m.-noon today (Monday, July 18) to Friday, July 22, in or around the RSC. You can expect the group to bring signs, speak and possibly do Bible readings. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the groups' rights to share their views in public places. If you have questions or concerns, contact Sara Morris, chief of University Police, at 978-3450 or sara.morris@wichita.edu.

* Leading is not an option but a requirement in our higher education professions. Regardless of a job title or position, often one is asked and expected to take on leadership roles. A cross-cultural leadership training session will be offered from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, in 142 RSC. To register for this training, go to myTraining on myWSU. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4854 for more information.

* If you would like to receive printed materials of the new Plan Year 2017 health insurance that will be presented during open enrollment, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/OEmaterials and complete the required fields by Friday, July 22. During the week of Sept. 26, this information will also be posted on the State Employee Health Plan website at http://www.kdheks.gov/hcf/sehp/default.htm

* WSU students, faculty and staff may purchase virtual parking permits (ePermits) for the 2016-17 academic year. The new system features license plate recognition (LPR) technology and that eliminates the need for color-coded hangtags and stickers for parking enforcement. A single ePermit can be used for up to five vehicles, including motorcycles and rental cars, as needed, provided only one of the vehicles is on campus at the same time. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4848 for more information.

* The Research Compliance Office will hold its next come-and-go open lab from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, in 215 Devlin Hall Innovation Hub. This is an open lab and no registration is required.

* An Institutional Review Board (IRB) Open Lab will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in 405 Jardine Hall. The lab is for faculty, staff and students who have questions about IRB forms or about their study in general. These are come-and-go labs with no registration required.

* The College of Health Professions is pleased to share its 2015 Annual Report. We encourage students, faculty and staff to browse through the report, as the accomplishments highlighted demonstrate how we are "Leading Change in Healthcare Education." Read it at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4852
