Reminders, deadlines and events

* The Office of the Registrar is closed today (Thursday, July 21) for a staff development event. If you have questions, please contact WSU OneStop from 8 a.m.-6 p.m., at 978-7440 or 1-855-978-1787.

* The Office of Strategic Communications is closed for a staff retreat today (Thursday, July 21).

* Leading is not an option but a requirement in our higher education professions. Regardless of a job title or position, often one is asked and expected to take on leadership roles. A cross-cultural leadership training session will be offered from 10-11:30 a.m. today (Thursday, July 21) in 142 RSC. To register, go to myTraining on myWSU.

* An Institutional Review Board (IRB) Open Lab will be held at 1 p.m. today (Thursday, July 21) in 405 Jardine Hall. The lab is for faculty, staff and students who have questions about IRB forms or about their study in general. These are come-and-go labs with no registration required.

* If your office has student job openings, the On-Campus Job Fair is the place to fill them. The fair will be from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, July 28, in the third floor RSC Beggs Ballroom. Wichita State offices and departments may use the fair to hire for on-campus regular or on-campus work-study positions, including student assistants, graduate assistants, tutors, interns, lifeguards, etc. Reserve your booth space by today (Thursday, July 21) by filling out the form at http://www.wichita.edu/RegisterOCJF.

* If you want to receive printed materials of the new Plan Year 2017 health insurance that will be presented during open enrollment, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/OEmaterials and complete the required fields by Friday, July 22. During the week of Sept. 26, this information will also be posted on the State Employee Health Plan website at http://www.kdheks.gov/hcf/sehp/default.htm

* WSU is hosting Shocker Saturday, a free event for prospective students, at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, in 142 RSC. The event will include a presentation about opportunities at Wichita State, a student panel to answer questions, a campus tour and a closing session about life as a Shocker.
