Reminders, deadlines and events

* A biannual orientation program has been scheduled for new, benefits-eligible university support staff and unclassified professional staff on Tuesday, Aug. 2. The orientation program provides employees hired within the previous six months an opportunity to learn more about WSU. To register, go to myWSU Faculty/Staff tab and select myTraining. * The sidewalk replacement project continues this week. Barkley Construction will be on campus removing and replacing sidewalk and ramps on the southeast corner of Ahlberg Hall, outside of Student Health Services. Additional work will take place north of the Grace Wilkie Annex entrance. The north and south entries to Lindquist Hall will also include ramp and sidewalk work.

* The Wichita Medical Research and Education Foundation (WMREF) is pleased to announce a Collaborative Investigator Initiated Research (CIIR) funding opportunity of $15,000. The purpose of this research program is to provide investigators with short-term funding (seed money) leading to successful application to larger and new funding sources in the areas of social/behavioral, biological, genetic or environmental determinants of disease and/or health, either physical or mental, across the life span. * More volunteers are needed to sign up for Wu-Rah, formerly Convocation. Join us for a fun and exciting event as we welcome new and returning students to campus on Friday, Aug. 26. * Building Bridges: Art Exhibition & Sale presents 70 paintings by professional displaced Middle Eastern artists, mostly Iraqi, in four Wichita-area venues. The artwork from refugee artists will be sold by silent auction with proceeds benefiting the artists.
