* Inventors and STEM educators will have the opportunity to ask questions and talk with patent examiners Mark Radtke and David Le from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) from 3-4:30 p.m. today (Friday, July 29) in the Widget Space on the first floor of Devlin Hall.
* A biannual orientation program has been scheduled for new, benefits-eligible university support staff and unclassified professional staff on Tuesday, Aug. 2. The orientation program provides employees hired within the previous six months an opportunity to learn more about WSU. To register, go to myWSU Faculty/Staff tab and select myTraining. * Attention search chairs, search committee members and department administrators -- there will be a veterans preference training class from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, in 256 RSC. This class explains the veterans preference policy and how it affects searches. It also gives a basic overview of interpreting military documents and provides translation tools to help understand what your veteran applicant is trying to tell you. * The Red Cross will host a blood drive from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, in the Heskett Center lobby. All presenting donors will be entered into a raffle for a $100 gift certificate. To make an appointment, call 1-800-Red-Cross or go online to http://www.redcrossblood.org
* Wichita State is hosting a CPR night for parents, guardians or other caregivers who work with children from 5:30-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at WSU's Child Development Center. The cost is $35 per person. To sign up or for more information, call 978-3109.
