Reminders, deadlines and events

* Attention search chairs, search committee members and department administrators -- there will be a veterans preference training class from 3-4 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 4) in 256 RSC. This class explains the veterans preference policy and how it affects searches. It also gives a basic overview of interpreting military documents and provides translation tools to help understand what your veteran applicant is trying to tell you. To enroll, go to myWSU Faculty/Staff tab and select myTraining.

* The Council of University Women Meet & Greet Open House will be 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, in the RSC Harvest Room. Stop by this free event to get a preview of CUW events in the coming year and enjoy a snack. Feel free to bring a friend. RSVP requested, but not required: cuw@wichita.edu. * The Red Cross will host a blood drive from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 4) in the Heskett Center lobby. All presenting donors will be entered into a raffle for a $100 gift certificate.

* Wichita State is hosting a CPR night for parents, guardians or other caregivers who work with children from 5:30-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at WSU's Child Development Center. The cost is $35 per person. To sign up or for more information, call 978-3109.
