Reminders, deadlines and events

* Attention search chairs, search committee members and department administrators -- there will be a veterans preference training class from 3-4 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Aug. 4) in 256 RSC. This class explains the veterans preference policy and how it affects searches. It also gives a basic overview of interpreting military documents and provides translation tools to help understand what your veteran applicant is trying to tell you. * Human Resources is offering Wage & Hour Training for any and all timekeepers, supervisors and administrative specialists from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, in 266 RSC. This valuable training assists timekeepers using law, policy and even best practices for all timekeeping situations. New overtime rules are incorporated in the class. * The Red Cross will host a blood drive from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Aug. 4) in the Heskett Center lobby. All presenting donors will be entered into a raffle for a $100 gift certificate. To make an appointment, call 1-800-Red-Cross or go online to http://www.redcrossblood.org

* WSU's School of Performing Arts has released its schedule for the 2016-17 season. The season will open with a performance of "Two Rooms," Sept. 28-Oct. 2, in Welsbacher Theatre, Hughes Metropolitan Complex. * An Institutional Review Board (IRB) open lab will be held from 1:30-3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, in 405 Jardine Hall. The come-and-go lab is for faculty, staff and students who have questions about IRB forms or about their study in general. No registration is required.
