Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast
* As you prepare your Blackboard course areas for fall, you will notice some changes. The menu items on the left have been scaled back to make your Blackboard class easier for you and your students. Learn about the changes at http://blogs.wichita.edu/idtgroup/?p=3833. If you need on-demand Blackboard training as you build your class, consult this index of short videos: http://blogs.wichita.edu/idtgroup/?page_id=1564. As always, if you have a technical problem, submit a ticket through OneStop.
* New parking signs are being installed. All signs say that an ePermit is required, although current hangtags are good through August. You may purchase virtual parking permits (ePermits) for the 2016-17 academic year. The new system features license plate recognition (LPR) technology that eliminates the need for color-coded hangtags and stickers for parking enforcement. A single ePermit can be used for up to five vehicles, including motorcycles and rental cars, as needed, provided only one of the vehicles is on campus at a time. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4873 for more information.
* Join coach Chris Lamb and the WSU volleyball team for a night of food, volleyball and fun on Saturday, Aug. 20. Learn the game and understand the rules during the VB101 stations and scrimmage with the help of the Wichita State coaches and current team members, all while helping raise money. For tickets, call the WSU Ticket Office at 978-3267 option 5. For general questions, call Shannon Lamb at 978-5549.
* Are you a WSU employee with a high school junior? The Office of Admissions hosts Shocker Leadership Academy (SLA) for select high school juniors, with nearly 35 graduates completing monthly activities both here at WSU and in the Wichita community. If you have a high school junior who is interested, we encourage you to attend the SLA kick-off dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13. Your student and up to two guests can RSVP at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4889
* The Research Compliance Office will hold its next come-and-go open lab from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, in 215 Devlin Hall Innovation Hub. This is an open lab and no registration is required. An open lab is scheduled once a month to answer any questions regarding release of technical data, working or collaborating with a non-U.S. company or person, shipping or receiving data or items from outside the U.S., international travel and other questions regarding research compliance. For more information, contact Research Compliance at compliance@wichita.edu or 978-2667 (COMP).
* Shocker Blast is the email newsletter for WSU students. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/shockerblast to see the current edition.
