Reminders, deadlines and events

* The deadline to apply for Employee or Dependent/Spouse Tuition Assistance has been extended to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25. The tuition assistance program is available for benefits eligible, nonteaching employees who wish to further their education through classes at WSU. It is also available for dependent children and/or spouses of all full-time employees at WSU. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4911 for the application and for information regarding eligibility requirements, registration information and amount of the award. If you have questions, contact Sarah Hunter at 978-6124 or sarah.hunter@wichita.edu.

* Traffic on north Perimeter Road between Hillside and Yale Ave., will be restricted to one-way from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. today (Friday, Aug. 19) and Saturday, Aug. 20. Those who enter campus from 21st and Yale will be directed into Lot 3. There will be no access to campus from the Hillside entrance, just south of Koch Arena. Also, Lot 2 south will be blocked to serve as a staging area for students moving into Shocker Hall. Any questions, contact the University Police Department at 978-3450.

* Do you need data projector/media training so you can checkout a key for your classroom? Plan to attend a training session put on by Campus Media Services. Go to http://blogs.wichita.edu/idtgroup/?page_id=4089

* You're invited to attend the premiere of the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) plan from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, in 262 RSC. This interactive open house celebrates the culmination of the SEM planning process and showcases the outcomes. Learn more about how everyone can be involved in the planned strategies and activities that contribute to improving student experiences and success. A light lunch will be available for participants; no RSVP is required. If you have questions, contact gina.crabtree@wichita.edu.

* As you prepare your Blackboard course areas for fall, you will notice some changes. The menu items on the left have been scaled back to make your Blackboard class easier for you and your students. Learn about the changes at http://blogs.wichita.edu/idtgroup/?p=3833. If you need on-demand Blackboard training as you build your class, consult this index of short videos: http://blogs.wichita.edu/idtgroup/?page_id=1564. As always, if you have a technical problem, submit a ticket through OneStop.

* New parking signs say that an ePermit is required, although current hangtags are good through August. You may purchase virtual parking permits (ePermits) for the 2016-17 academic year. The new system features license plate recognition (LPR) technology that eliminates the need for color-coded hangtags and stickers for parking enforcement. A single ePermit can be used for up to five vehicles, including motorcycles and rental cars, as needed, provided only one of the vehicles is on campus at a time. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4873 for more information.

* The Graduate School, Office of Student Success and the Office of Student Involvement are hosting a Welcome Back Party for all graduate students and graduate faculty from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, in Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes. Free popcorn, soda, bowling, billiards and games will be available. Students should bring their WSU ID. Please encourage your graduate students to attend this fun event, and stick around for the outdoor movie at 9 p.m. in the RSC east courtyard.
