* The deadline to apply for Employee or Dependent/Spouse Tuition Assistance has been extended to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25. The tuition assistance program is available for benefits eligible, nonteaching employees who wish to further their education through classes at WSU. It is also available for dependent children and/or spouses of all full-time employees at WSU. * The Office of Admissions is hosting a come-and-go Recruitment Launch Party from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Marcus Welcome Center. * The Office of Research will hold an open lab for the Pivot funding opportunities database from 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, in 409E Jardine Hall. Pivot allows faculty and staff to input their research interests and receive notifications when funding opportunities matching their interests are available. Registration is not required. * Welcomefest speaker Bree Newsome will present "Tearing Hate From the Sky," at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, in the RSC Beggs Ballroom. Tickets are $3 for faculty and staff at the University Bookstore. Newsome is an award-winning filmmaker known for "WAKE," writer, composer, singer, community activist and organizer.
