Reminders, deadlines and events

* Members and prospective members are invited to join the Young Shocker Professionals for a brown bag lunch from 12:30-1:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 25) in 264 RSC. Bring your lunch or grab it downstairs and come chat with new and veteran members alike. You'll also get a sneak peek at events we're planning for this fall, as well as a chance to give us your input.

* The Office of Research will hold an open lab for the Pivot funding opportunities database from 2:30-4 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 25) in 409E Jardine Hall. The lab is designed to assist in setting up a Pivot account or answer questions regarding existing accounts. Registration is not required. * The deadline to apply for Employee or Dependent/Spouse Tuition Assistance has been extended to 5 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 25). * Learn about the different faith based and ideological student organizations on campus and in the community at the Faith Experience Fair from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 25) at the RSC north patio. The event is sponsored by Student Involvement, Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Campus Connect. * Plan to attend the campus-wide event, "Who Are We and Where Are We Going," from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the RSC Beggs Ballroom. This is our first interactive strategic plan review and update. Each dean from the academic colleges will present the implementation highlights, challenges and next steps from their college's strategic plan. Attendees will be engaged in interactive sessions throughout the afternoon that encourage cross-campus conversations. Please RSVP to the President's Office at presidentsoffice@wichita.edu.

* WSU is no longer leasing the parking lot at 21st and Oliver. Anyone parking in that lot will receive a warning notice from Extra Space Storage. If drivers continue to park there, they will be towed at the owners expense. If you want to take advantage of free parking and ride the shuttle, you must park at the Metropolitan Complex located at 29th and Oliver.

* Don't miss Wu-Rah at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Friday, Aug. 26) in Charles Koch Arena. Faculty, staff and students from each academic college will team up for a relay competition, representatives from the Multicultural Greek Councils will be strolling and performing, and one student will get a shot at a chance to win $750 in scholarships and a reserved parking spot on campus. After the program, get a free T-shirt and lunch. This fun event will be the kick-off to the school year you don't want to miss.
