Welcomefest speaker Bree Newsome will present "Tearing Hate From the Sky," at 6:45 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, Aug. 30) in the RSC Beggs Ballroom. Tickets are free for students with a WSU ID. Tickets must be picked up from the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Tickets are $3 for faculty and staff at the University Bookstore. Newsome was arrested at the South Carolina State Capitol after scaling the 30-foot flagpole, unhooking the Confederate flag and stating "this flag comes down today!" Newsome is an award-winning filmmaker known for "WAKE," writer, composer, singer, community activist and organizer. The event is presented by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and co-sponsored with SAC Talks & Topics, the Office of Student Success, RSC and the Ulrich Museum of Art.
