* Business students are invited to join Dean Desai for a chance to hear about the future of the Barton School and ask any questions you might have. The informal and interactive town hall-style meeting will be held from 2-3 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 15) in 204 Clinton Hall. No advance registration is necessary, simply show up and take part. Contact the Dean's Office in 100 Clinton Hall with any questions.

* "Jokes that kill: The use of sardonic humor leading up to the French wars of religion" will be presented by University of Kansas professor Bruce Hayes, Department of French and Italian, from noon-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in Ablah Library.

* Shocker Startup is bringing a Wichitalks event to campus. Join us for an evening of fun, networking and free food at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom, third floor, RSC. * Author of the book "College Student's Guide to the Law," C.L. Lindsay is coming to Wichita State to present "Internet Privacy." The event will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in the CAC Theater. Admission is free. It will be a great educational experience for all college students.

* Wichita State is celebrating 40 years of recognized LGBTQ student groups on our campus. It all started with a dance in September 1976, and to mark the anniversary, Spectrum: LGBTQ & Allies is planning a special celebration for alumni, students, faculty and staff. Join us for dinner, speakers, community and dancing at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the RSC's Shirley Beggs Ballroom. * Improve your English at "Eyes to See and Ears to Hear," a fun, interactive conversational English course. Practice your listening, speaking, writing and pronunciation. Enjoy a weekly video presentation based on the life of Jesus. All faiths and religious backgrounds are welcome. Classes will meet from 7-9 p.m. every Monday starting Sept.19-Dec. 5. Cost for tuition and materials is $68. Scholarships are available. The Mission, a Registered Student Organization, is co-sponsoring the course. This exciting event blends our WSU Reads program with other student learning and engagement opportunities. Students have the opportunity to compete for scholarship prizes. * We are looking for members to join a new Spanish club, La Garita, a group dedicated to helping students become more comfortable with Spanish.
