Physics Seminar Series to feature Evan Niner from Fermilab

Evan Niner from Fermilab will present a Physics Seminar Series lecture at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 14) in 128 Jabara Hall. Refreshments and discussion will follow the presentation, "New Neutrino Oscillation Results from the NOVA Experiment." The NOVA experiment is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment that uses two detectors separated by 809 kilometers to measure muon neutrino disappearance and electron neutrino appearance in the beam produced at Fermilab. In this talk, Niner will present the latest oscillation results from the experiment. He also will describe improvements made to the previous analysis including a new event classification algorithm based on deep convolutional neural networks.
