Office of Financial Operations and Business Technology win Best Practice award

The Office of Financial Operations and Business Technology at Wichita State won a Best Practice award from the Central Association of College and University Business Officers (CACUBO).

The program recognizes colleges and universities that have successfully developed a best practice to respond to particular business problems. WSU received the award for a best practice developed in response to challenges of collecting all past due accounts receivable balances no older than seven years.

The department had minimal staff members to respond to the increased workload and found a way to automate processes to increase efficiency in production without increasing the number of staff.

In less than one year, a best practice process was developed in partnership with Financial Aid and the Office of Student Money Management to more efficiently assist students with resources to reduce past due balances.

The department also reviewed the internal customer service practices to identify areas that could be improved on, such as incorporating a friendlier customer service experience for students.
