The Knight Cities Challenge will award a total of $5 million to projects based in one of the 26 "Knight Cities," of which Wichita is one. The application process is the same as it has been in years past in that all that is required initially is a 100-word project description. Projects need to focus on one of three areas: Talent (attracting and keeping college educated talent in Wichita); Opportunity (expand economic prospects by breaking down divides and making new connections) and Engagement (spur connection and civic growth).
