Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast

* Professor Christian Wolf with City College of New York (CCNY) will present "Ground States at the Boundary of Rotation Sets," at 3 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 30) in 372 Jabara Hall. The presentation is courtesy of the Lecture Series in the Mathematical Sciences. Join us for refreshments before the lecture at 2:30 p.m. in 353 Jabara Hall.

* Student Health Services is closed today (Friday, Sept. 30) to allow our nurse practitioners to attend additional training. Student Health will reopen on Monday, Oct. 3.

* Gamma Phi Beta sorority will host a 5k race on campus starting at 7 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 30). As a result, some campus roads will be closed or have limited access. The University Police Department will set up around 6:45 p.m. and close the roads at about 7 p.m. for approximately 30-40 minutes.

* The university schedule for the holiday closedown memo has been corrected. It incorrectly stated that "Staff may use accumulated vacation leave or their *2017 discretionary day during this closedown period or will be given appropriate work assignments by their supervisor." It now correctly states, "Staff may use accumulated vacation leave or their *2016 discretionary day during this closedown period or will be given appropriate work assignments by their supervisor." * WSU's School of Performing Arts will present "Two Rooms" by Lee Blessing at 7:30 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 30) and Saturday, Oct. 1, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1-2, in Welsbacher Theatre, Hughes Metropolitan Complex, Entrance F. * Student Perception of Teaching Effectiveness (SPTE) request forms are due to the Social Science Research Lab by Monday, Oct. 3. If you do not have a request form, download one from http://www.wichita.edu\sslab. You can email the electronic version to sandra.ranney@wichita.edu, mail a paper form to campus box 107 or hand carry the form to 429 Lindquist Hall.

* WSU will award internal research grants this fall. University Research/Creative Project (URCA) grants provide up to $4,500 in funding to retool or reestablish productive research or creative projects. Multidisciplinary Research Projects (MURPA) grants provide up to $7,500 for projects that involve two or more investigators from different disciplines that focus different perspectives and capabilities on complex problems that intersect established areas of study.
