First performed in 1988, "Two Rooms" deals with a contemporary subject much in the minds of today's society -- the taking of innocent hostages by political terrorists. The story unfolds in two rooms, one where the hostage is being held and the other where the victim's wife waits. Provocative and compelling, "Two Rooms" is a classic, relevant play about best intentions and the trouble with fighting an enemy with an entirely different philosophy.

The New York Times said of this play, "the playwright's eye is penetratingÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢Ãƒ¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…¡¬¦ (Mr. Blessing) reaffirms his authority with timely political questions." (Rated PG)

"Two Rooms" is part of the Theater program's student produced Second Stage series. In this series, students are responsible for all aspects of the production from show choice, design work, technical direction and building to show direction, acting and promotion. Through this applied learning experience, students pursuing careers in the fields of art and entertainment have the opportunity to learn hands on how to take a show from conception to completion.

The cast of Two Rooms includes music theater majors Lexy Witcher (Lanie), Naaman Williams (Walker), and theater performance majors Denilson Lopez (Michael) and Payton Dickerson (Ellen).

"Two Rooms" is directed by theater major Brandi Bailey and stage-managed by theater major Sydney Jordan. Designers include Theater Design & Technology majors Cody Buettgenbach (sets), Amber Stevens (lights), Mary White (sound), vocal performance major Aaron Fink (props), and School of Performing Arts Costume Shop manager Jamie Urban (costumes). Theater Design & Technology major Kenneth Stevens serves as technical director.
