* Canceled: Philosophy Lecture Series, "Dangerous Minds," by Craig Macy, scheduled for today (Thursday, Sep 29).
* Proposals for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Major Research Instrumentation solicitation are due to WSU's Office of Research on Friday, Sept. 30. This is a limited submission opportunity; WSU is only able to submit three proposals. There will need to be an internal competition to determine which proposals will be submitted to the NSF. * WSU's School of Performing Arts will present "Two Rooms" by Lee Blessing at 7:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Sept. 29) to Saturday, Oct. 1, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1-2, in Welsbacher Theatre, Hughes Metropolitan Complex, Entrance F. * Young Shocker Professionals invite members and prospective members to a Final Friday Art Crawl tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 30). We'll meet at Old Chicago (downtown) for dinner at 6 p.m., then visit the galleries within walking distance. * WSU has added Alertus Desktop Notifications to the university Shocker Alert System. Alertus provides a full-screen alert on all university-owned PCs when a Shocker Alert is issued. * The Office of Academic Affairs, in collaboration with Student Involvement, is seeking applications from teaching faculty to serve as service-learning scholars for the 2016-17 academic year. The application deadline has been extended to Friday, Oct. 14. The Service-Learning Faculty Scholars program has been designed to empower committed service-learning faculty to cultivate and support interest in service learning in their fellow faculty members and through their classes and college.
