* Do-it-yourself home improvement enthusiasts age 18-70 are needed to help the Software Usability Research Lab with a usability evaluation of a connected thermostat. If you are interested, take a few minutes to take the screening survey at http://surl.org/survey. If you qualify, you will be contacted by a representative of the Software Usability Research Lab to schedule a time to participate. Participants in the study will earn a $100 debit card for one and a half to two hours of their time. * The WSU Athletic Department and Shocker Volleyball want to show their appreciation of campus faculty and staff by offering free admission to all WSU faculty and staff who show their Shocker ID at the door to watch the Shockers take on the Southern Illinois Salukis at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Charles Koch Arena.

* The Office of Academic Affairs, in collaboration with Student Involvement, is seeking applications from teaching faculty to serve as service-learning scholars for the 2016-17 academic year. The application deadline has been extended to Friday, Oct. 14. The Service-Learning Faculty Scholars program has been designed to empower committed service-learning faculty to cultivate and support interest in service learning in their fellow faculty members and through their classes and college. * The University Bookstore is taking orders for faculty and staff who need regalia for Fall 2016 Commencement. If you plan on purchasing regalia, CB Grad will be in the bookstore from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 12-13, to measure and take orders.
* The Office of Undergraduate Admissions invites faculty and staff to participate as an observer at this year's Distinguished Scholarship Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 19. Observers watch students participate in small group activities and rate them on their leadership skills. This year we are offering two session times to the students, so we will need observers for both sessions. Choose between 8:30 a.m.-noon, 1:30-5:30 p.m., or both.
