* The Fall 2016 Chemistry Department Colloquium continues at 3:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 12) in 224 McKinley Hall, with guest speaker professor Gabriel Cook from Oklahoma State University. * The next USS Senate meeting is from 3:30-5 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 12) in 200 Lindquist Hall boardroom.
* The Office of Research, in collaboration with WSU Ventures, will hold a Technology Transfer & Intellectual Property workshop from 1-2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in 405 Jardine Hall. The workshop, presented by Becky Hundley, will cover common questions about intellectual property. Register using the myTraining module available through https://mywsu.wichita.edu. * WSU will hold a free flu clinic on Tuesday, Oct. 18, in 266 RSC, as part of the state-sponsored flu clinics running now-Monday, Oct. 31. Register and find event information at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5094. Free flu shot clinics are available to members and spouses enrolled in the State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) ages 18-65. * Leading into the fall 2016 semester, the IDT team updated the navigation bar in Blackboard courses to make the experience easier for you and your students. * The Office of Research is accepting nominations for three annual Excellence Awards in Research, Community Research and Creative Activity. All full-time faculty, including distinguished professors and endowed chairs, who have served at WSU for at least three years are eligible for the awards, which are accompanied by a $2,500 stipend. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Dec. 2. A brief description of each award and a link to additional criteria and the nomination form is available at http://www.wichita.edu/excellenceawards
* Understanding finance at WSU can be a challenge for budget officers and support staff. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Lois Tatro will present WSU Finance 101. The agenda includes information on GU and RU funding, how to stay on top of departmental finances, processing revenue, expenses, Visa procurement cards and more.
