* The university's accreditation site visit is today (Monday, Oct. 10) and Tuesday, Oct. 11. All students are encouraged to meet with the site visit team. * Enroll now in LASI170, Introduction to Library Research. There are two, one-credit, eight-week sections beginning Thursday, Oct. 13. * Interested in Alternative Spring Break or Alternative Summer Break? This year, two trip opportunities are available -- Spring Break working with hunger relief in Washington D.C., and Summer Break working with conservation in Australia. Both trips will be discussed, including details on cost, application deadlines and logistics in two informational meetings at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 11) and Thursday, Oct. 13 in 261 RSC. * The men of Sigma Lambda Beta will host their annual Beta Burrito Sale from 8:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the Hubbard Hall lobby.
* WSU's Opera Theatre will celebrate Shakespeare's 400th anniversary with a comic operetta adaptation of "Much Ado About Nothing." Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 13-15, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Miller Concert Hall. * The Office of First-Year Programs is looking to hire new Transition Mentors to help welcome new students to Wichita State. Transition Mentors are student leaders who assist with summer orientation programs and serve as mentors to new students during the fall semester. * Student Involvement, in collaboration with the Innovation Fellows, will host the first TEDx Program at WSU on April 27, 2017. TEDxWichitaStateUniversity will feature students, staff, faculty and community members addressing the theme "Curiosity, Creativity and Connection." The planning committee is seeking potential student presenters for the program to speak toward their interpretation of the theme based on their college or life experience.
