* WSU's Dennis Livesay will be the guest speaker in the Lecture Series in the Mathematical Sciences at 3 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 14) in 372 Jabara Hall. Livesay will present "Does Nature Love Chemistry and Physics as Much as I Do?" Join us for refreshments before the lecture at 2:30 p.m. in 353 Jabara Hall.

* Young Shocker Professionals invites you to join them for a Witch's BREW-ery Crawl at 6 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 14). We'll meet first at the Hopping Gnome, then go to Central Standard Brewing and end at River City brewery. We plan to spend about an hour in each spot, but we may stay longer if we're really enjoying ourselves. If you plan to join later, just text Tim at 325-998-1662 to find out where the group is.

* WSU's Opera Theatre will celebrate Shakespeare's 400th anniversary with a comic operetta adaptation of "Much Ado About Nothing," at 7:30 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 14) and Saturday, Oct. 15, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Miller Concert Hall. * WSU West is having an Open House from 2-5 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 15). We will have representatives from Financial Aid, Admissions and LAS advising on hand to answer any questions that attendees may have. We'll also have kids games, building tours and snacks/refreshments.

* The Office of Research will hold an open lab for Institutional Review Board (IRB) issues from 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, in 405 Jardine Hall. Katie Williams, IRB administrator, will address questions from faculty, staff and students regarding the forms or their study in general. No registration is required. * WSU will hold a free flu clinic on Tuesday, Oct. 18, in 266 RSC, as part of the state-sponsored flu clinics running now-Monday, Oct. 31. Register and find event information at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5094. Free flu shot clinics are available to members and spouses enrolled in the State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) ages 18-65. * WSU's Office of Community Engagement and Opportunity is working with StoryTime Village and many others in support of the Kansas Children's Literacy Conference and Festival 2016, Oct. 19-22. Actress Victoria Rowell will serve as the keynote speaker at Storytime Village's Read and Rise Breakfast Gala at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Exploration Place, 300 N. * The Office of Undergraduate Admissions invites faculty and staff to participate as observers at this year's Distinguished Scholarship Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 19. Observers are needed for two sessions. If you volunteer for the morning session, the time commitment is 7:30 a.m.-noon. In the afternoon, the time commitment would be about 1-5:30 p.m. Refreshments are included, as well as a short training session.
