* WSU will hold a free flu clinic tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 18) in 266 RSC, as part of the state-sponsored flu clinics running now-Monday, Oct. 31. Register and find event information at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?5094. Free flu shot clinics are available to members and spouses enrolled in the State Employee Health Plan (SEHP) ages 18-65. * Understanding finance at WSU can be a challenge for budget officers and support staff. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Lois Tatro will present WSU Finance 101. The agenda includes information on GU and RU funding, how to stay on top of departmental finances, processing revenue, expenses, Visa procurement cards and more. If you have questions regarding the finance process you would like Lois to cover, send them to training@wichita.edu by tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 18). * University Police will begin full enforcement of parking regulations today (Monday, Oct. 17). Parking citations are paperless and will be emailed to your university email address. To avoid citations, please park in the appropriate lot.
* The Research Compliance Office will hold a come-and-go open lab from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Devlin Hall Innovation Hub. This is an open lab and no registration is required. For more information, contact Research Compliance at compliance@wichita.edu or 978-2667 (COMP).
* Last year, nearly 300 WSU faculty and staff attended one of the WSU Days at Kansas Leadership Center (KLC). We will offer the next WSU Day from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at KLC. The day provides a general orientation to KLC ideas and their applicability to our settings at WSU, presented in a highly interactive style. * The Academy for Effective Teaching is sponsoring a series of seminars on teaching. The next seminar will feature Don Nance, emeritus executive director of the Training and Technology Team (T3), presenting a seminar, "Lessons I Learned Teaching," at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in 156A Media Resources Center. GTAs, faculty and others interested in teaching are encouraged to attend.
* Strategic Communications will hold a marketing seminar for WSU faculty and staff from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in 233 RSC, Santa Fe Trail Room. The main session will cover developments in Strategic Communications with an update on the university's website, an introduction to the photo sharing site Zenfolio, as well as an update from Athletics regarding changes in royalties and use of WuShock. * The Morrison Hall Rotating Gallery is currently featuring the Empty Bowls Wichita Exhibit on the second floor of Morrison Hall. The handmade bowls can be purchased, benefiting the Kansas Food Bank. Bowls and tickets to the chili cook-off can be purchased in the President's Office. The cost is $20 for a bowl and ticket to the chili cook-off on Saturday, Oct. 22, in Henrion Hall, or $10 for a bowl.
