Updates coming to WSU password change on Wednesday, Oct. 26

In a continuing effort to strengthen IT security and meet State of Kansas requirements for all State agencies, the following changes will be implemented to the Password Management process starting Wednesday, Oct. 26:

All passwords created on, or after Oct. 26, will be required to have one capital letter, one lower case letter and one number. While the current Password Management process has allowed all three of the prior mentioned conditions, it has not forced a password to have all three at the same time.

All State of Kansas Employees are required to complete annual Information Technology Security Awareness Training (ITSA) annually. Starting Oct. 26, if your ITSA training status has expired or will expire prior to your next password reset, the Password Management process will require you to take your annual ITSA before you will be allowed to change your password. If you do not complete your annual ITSA training, you won't be able to change your password before it expires, which will lock you out of your WSU accounts.

To find out when you last completed your ITSA, log in to myWSU, select the Faculty/Staff tab and look in the Employee Required Training channel. You will be able to see when you last completed IT Security Awareness training. If it was more than a year ago, go ahead and click the IT Security Awareness (ITSA) training link in the channel to complete it now.
